Will GTA VI fit on my console?
GTA VI is reportedly about 210GB on PS5 and Xbox (not yet confirmed by Rockstar). Pick your console, check your free space, and see exactly how much to clear before pre-load opens on 12 November.
Find it: PS5 Settings → Storage → Console storage. Xbox My games & apps → Manage → Storage devices.
Why 250GB, not 210GB?
The 210GB figure is the reported install. Consoles also need working space while a game installs, and big games usually get a day-one patch, so clearing about 250GB avoids a failed pre-load on the night.
Quickest ways to free space
- Delete the biggest games first. Call of Duty, Forza and other live-service games are often 100GB+ each, and you can re-download them later.
- Move games instead of deleting. A USB external drive can hold PS5 and Xbox Series games you aren't playing (you play them after moving back). On PS5, an M.2 SSD expansion can run games directly; on Xbox, only the official Storage Expansion Card can.
- Clear captures. Screenshots and video clips quietly take tens of gigabytes.
- Boxed copy? It's a download code, not a disc, so it needs exactly the same space.
Usable-space figures are typical after the system software; your console may differ by a few GB. Source for the 210GB report: our fact tracker.
